Teacher Appreciaion Dessert Bar- Friday, May 10 Let’s thank our teachers for all they do by providing desserts during their lunchtimes. Please bring donations to the main office by 10:45am. Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/whsbulldog

Senior Prom- May 11, Hilton Dulles Airport Hotel, 8pm-12am Tickets Tickets will be sold for $80.00 per person and will be available for purchase April 29 – May 10 during all lunches. Online ticket sales will be available May 1 – May 8 only, through the FCPS MySchoolBucks program. You can access MySchoolBucks at the following link: https://www.myschoolbucks.com. The online receipt will be required to pick up the tickets during all lunches. Prom tickets, not purchased through MySchoolBucks, are payable by cash or money order only. Checks will not be accepted for payment. Guest Forms If a non-WHS student is attending as a guest, a guest form MUST be completed and approved prior to receiving tickets. The "Happily Ever After" All Night Grad Party (ANGP) will be here quicker than we know and we are determined to get 100% participation! The ANGP is an all night, lock-in celebration for our 2019 Graduates and is held in a drug and alcohol free safe environment. This years' celebration will be held at Uptown Alley & Autobahn Indoor Speedway in the Manassas Mall. Registration is now open! The cost is $75 per student and food, drinks, and ALL activities are included. What activities? · Black-light bowling lanes! · Autobahn go-kart racing! · Laser Tag! · Arcades! · Dancing all night! Students will be taken by charted bus to and from WHS and the ANGP. Security will be provided. Any student who may be in need of financial assistance can see their counselor. The last day to register is May 31st, and students/parents can register here: https://ptsa.westfieldhs.org/parents/angp-homepage.html. Food, prizes and monetary donations are welcome! Let's send our Seniors off in style!

THANK YOU to the 400 students and 125 parents who volunteered with Mulch Days! Despite a tornado & thunderstorm warning Friday afternoon, we managed to deliver almost 3,000 bags of mulch to homes. On Saturday, we pushed out the remaining 10,000 plus bags to all 400 homes in record time! What a fun, group effort to support WHS! There is no doubt that our Bulldogs are tough, hard-working, and dedicated. For the X2VOL, please use the email for our Mulch Chair, Beth Tweddle: bethtwee@gmail.com Seniors, sign up for ANGP NOW-we are ready! A tremendous thank you to Beth Tweddle, our Mulch Days Chair! Dance Team Fundraiser: The Westfield High School Varsity Dance Team is doing kids birthday parties and Brownie dancer badge workshops to fund raise for Nationals. If you know of any families with young children who may be interested, please spread the word. See attached flyers for details or contact Coach Jessica Davis at westfieldhsdanceteam@gmail.com.

Eagle Scout Project – Help Needed!: Gavin Peppler is a freshman at Westfield with an Eagle Scout project that will benefit the Westfield Art Department. His project is rebuilding two outside patios that used for outdoor Clay firing. The patios are currently not level, overgrown, and sinking. Some of the cement square tiles used to build the patios are cracked and need replacing. His job is to use as many of the old tiles as possible and rebuild the patios. Gavin requests funding support and volunteer help. He is with troop 893 and his email is gavinswim3@gmail.com .

New Tutoring Program – Bulldog Blitz!: This year, we replaced BITS with Bulldog Blitz. Bulldog Blitz is a FREE tutoring program for students currently enrolled at Westfield HS. Students seeking assistance with homework or other assignments work with Westfield HS student volunteers who previously mastered the content. The sessions will be held in the library from 10: 00 am to 11:00 am on the following dates: May 11, 18 To register for Bulldog Blitz you can bring your Emergency Care Card to the session, or email your Emergency Care Card to jpsimmons@fcps.edu, or give your Emergency Care Card to your counselor. For more information about Bulldog Blitz, contact your counselor or Mr. Simmons, Assistant Principal at 703-488-6341.

SAT Bootcamp at Westfield High School: Just $195 Per Student Catalyst's SAT Bootcamp is a confidence-boosting weekend seminar that teaches students strategies for every type of question they're guaranteed to encounter on the SAT. Selected topics include how to: · Shortcut math questions that stump more than 90% of test-takers · Spot hidden clues that reveal the main idea in lengthy SAT Reading passages · Avoid the three sneaky ways the SAT's Writing & Language test tries to trick students · Use a proven template to earn perfect scores in reading, analysis, and writing on the SAT Essay Catalyst's SAT Bootcamp is not a mock test or an infomercial for our services. Catalyst's SAT Bootcamp is a two-day seminar that ignites confidence and momentum by teaching students proven, step-by-step methods for cracking every type of question they're going to encounter on the SAT. Participants Catalyst's SAT Bootcamp book, bonus online instruction, and personalized feedback. Saturday, May 18th, 9am - 1pm & Sunday, May 19th, 9am - 1pm (Students attend both days.) Westfield 5K & 1K: Run for Remembrance- May 18 at 8am. Westfield High School lost two beloved members in 2015 and 2016 due to heart related issues. Conor Bouveron was a recent graduate of the school and Mike Greiner was an English teacher. We are hosting the Run for Remembrance: in honor of Mike Greiner and Conor Bouveron 5k and 1k, with a portion of the proceeds raised from the event will be donated to The Ryan Lopynski Big Heart Foundation in memory of Conor Bouveron and Mike Greiner. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Presents: More Than Sad “Take the shame out of the pain.”: Saturday, May 18 (4pm-6pm) Groups will meet in the WHS Library & Cafeteria The More Than Sad family of programs has taught over a million students, parents, and educators how to be smart about mental health. Participants learn how to recognize mental health conditions, warning signs of suicide, and the steps to take to get help for those who are at risk. *Middle school and High school students as well as adults are welcome. Sponsored by WHS PTSA & Centreville Presbyterian Church

All Night Grad Party: Seniors will celebrate with their friends at Uptown Alley and Autobahn Indoor Speedway in Manassas! This safe, all-inclusive, lock-in style event is from 12AM-4AM. Online registration will begin in early March on the PTSA website (www.ptsa.westfieldhs.org). Many volunteers are needed to make this a successful event. Please contact Becky Martin, ANGP Chair, ANGP-co-chair1@westfieldhs.org, if you are interested in volunteering before and/or during the event.

Westfield Theatre Boosters present Les Mis this summer!
Westfield Summer Stage provides a 4-week, intense theatre experience. Students rehearse each evening and the work culminates in a high-quality community production. Any student from rising 7th grade through 2019 high school graduate may audition for this summer's production. There is a workshop fee of $350 for a student cast in the show. Some dates to note are: Monday May 13: Interest meeting/audition workshop 6-8PM Saturday May 18: Auditions 9AM-1PM Sunday May 19: Callbacks 1PM Tuesday June 4: Mandatory Cast and Parent meeting 7PM Monday June 17: Rehearsals begin 5-9PM
