February PTSA Meeting RESCHEDULED: Due to scheduling conflicts, the February PTSA meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 19. The topic for this month is SAT / ACT Preparation options, and Sonya Williams will speak about scheduling. Don’t miss it!!

Report Card ‘A’ Day Thanks: We appreciate those who took time on Feb. 5 to celebrate our WHS students’ hard work by handing out raffle tickets during lunch for each “A” they earned: Mary Rubens, Vanessa Moore, Lisa Hart, Susan Dickinson, Christina Black, Janice Lebahn, Joy Volarich, Liz MacDonald, Mindy Conway, Dawn Winkler, Lauren Davenport, Jennie Ryman, and our wonderful coordinator, Andrea Jacobs! The PTSA provided 30 gift cards to Starbucks, Shell, GameStop, Chick-fil-A, CAVA, and Chipotle. In addition, Dr. Copeland will provide a student’s 4th or 5th period class with a pizza lunch.

Report Card ‘A’ Day Congratulations: Congratulations to the Report Card ‘A’ day raffle winners, and to all the students who received As on their report cards! The PTSA is proud to recognize your effort! Winners are: Ian Lynn, Jonathan Kan, Kevin Martinez, Nate Siu, Daniella Vorgal, Santiago Trujillo, Jessica Carmona, Kaitlyn Rubens, Nora Collinsworth, Jack Lebahn, Sammy Craypoff, Aidan O’Brien, Lync Hart, Matt Freed, Madi Rafii, Jacobs Franchi, Dao Tran, Camila Bohabot, Ben Afferton, Kelly Elson, Abby DeCandia, Hildegard Younce, Anna Mattfield, Thad Palmer, Lorena Allensworth, Neal Lucas, Alyssa Martinez, and Ahman Jackson.

Dance Team Fundraiser: The Westfield High School Varsity Dance Team is doing kids birthday parties and Brownie dancer badge workshops to fund raise for Nationals. If you know of any families with young children who may be interested, please spread the word. See attached flyers for details or contact Coach Jessica Davis at westfieldhsdanceteam@gmail.com.

Singing Valentines: Send a Singing Valentine to a Westfield student on Thursday, February 14th! Valentines will be presented by a small group of Choir Students who will hand-deliver a small stuffed animal, a card from you, and a song! Valentines are $5.00. Please see the attached flyer for information on how to send a Singing Valentine to your student and contact Mary Bidinger at mbidinger@verizon.net to place your order. Deadline for submission 2/13/19.

New Tutoring Program – Bulldog Blitz!: This year, we replaced BITS with Bulldog Blitz. Bulldog Blitz is a FREE tutoring program for students currently enrolled at Westfield HS. Students seeking assistance with homework or other assignments work with Westfield HS student volunteers who previously mastered the content. The sessions will be held in the library from 10: 00 am to 11:00 am on the following dates: March 23, 30 May 11, 18 To register for Bulldog Blitz you can bring your Emergency Care Card to the session, or email your Emergency Care Card to jpsimmons@fcps.edu, or give your Emergency Care Card to your counselor. For more information about Bulldog Blitz, contact your counselor or Mr. Simmons, Assistant Principal at 703-488-6341.

The All Night Grad Party for the Class of 2019 is confirmed! Thanks to Becky Martin for graciously volunteering to be our Chair for the event and several parents offering to help on committees, we can move forward with plans for the ANGP. More details will be coming soon! www.ptsa.westfieldhs.org

Thank you for donating cookies and water for the Faculty Meeting! The teachers and staff enjoyed the after school treats on Feb. 6 brought in by: Ann Campbell, Diane Mitchell, Young Kang, Cherie Kronimus, Amy Jeffries, Becky Martin, Liz MacDonald, Shawn Bergen, Joy Schwartz, Susan Dickinson, Stephanie Tarrant, Dawn Winkler, and Christy Riester. A special thanks to Ann Campbell and Elizabeth Swanberry for setting up and cleaning up!

Reflections Contest Winners! Anthony Kang’s entry represented Westfield in the Literature category. Hazel Vineet’s entry represented Westfield in the Film category. Both entries won the Division 5 Fairfax County Level Award and advanced to the Northern Virginia District Award level. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

Every year we quickly sell out of our high-quality, double-shredded mulch, and the spreading services even faster. The time to place your mulch order is NOW! We urge you to order online now so you’ll be assured delivery. It’s quick, easy, and one less thing to worry about later. If you don’t wish to order online, you can download and mail our order form.
