CONGRATULATIONS!
To Emma Wolfe and Emily Bidinger who successfully auditioned for the 2018 Senior Honors Choir at Longwood University. Over 650 seniors throughout VA auditioned with 150 chosen! Emma Wolfe is the Delegate and Emily Bidinger is the Alternate from Westfield High School.

Here are several updates we know about from around the school:

Please join the 2018-2019 WHS PTSA! Your membership is vital to the success of the PTSA! Please help support the students, teachers, and Westfield community by joining the PTSA this year. PLEASE NOTE: SENIORS must be registered as PTSA members by 10/31 to be eligible for PTSA scholarships. JUNIORS must be registered this year (18-19) AND as SENIORS in order to be eligible for PTSA scholarships in their Senior year.

PINK OUT!: The Class of 2021 is pinking out school and the football game on Friday. Purchase your PINK t-shirt at lunch Wednesday 10/24 and Thursday 10/25, then PINK OUT! Shirts are $10 each.

New Tutoring Program – Bulldog Blitz!: This year, we replaced BITS with Bulldog Blitz. Bulldog Blitz is a FREE tutoring program for students currently enrolled at Westfield HS. Students seeking assistance with homework or other assignments work with Westfield HS student volunteers who previously mastered the content. The sessions will be held in the library from 10: 00 am to 11:00 am on the following dates: October 20, 27 January 12, 19 March 16, 23, 30 May 4, 11, 18 To register for Bulldog Blitz you can bring your Emergency Care Card to the session, or email your Emergency Care Card to jpsimmons@fcps.edu, or give your Emergency Care Card to your counselor. For more information about Bulldog Blitz, contact your counselor or Mr. Simmons, Assistant Principal at 703-488-6341.

Art Dept. SIP N' PAINT! Sign-up by Oct 19th! The Art Department is excited to present our inaugural SIP N’ PAINT FUNDRAISERS!! Our first event will be Wednesday October 24th from 6-8pm in room A210 here at Westfield! Each participant will create a 16” x 20” Fall image based on Vincent Van Gogh’s Crows in the Wheatfield while we sip on gourmet hot cocoas and ciders and snack on Fall treats. Tickets are $30 and you will walk out with a painting ready to hang! We are bringing in a guest instructor, former WHS Bulldog Wade Angeli to lead us. Sign-up by October 19th!! Reflections Contest: Reflections encourages students to explore the arts and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. This year's theme is "Heroes Around Me". Entries can be in one of six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts. Submission deadline is Friday, Nov. 2. Sign Up for ParentVue Account: As you know, the 1st quarter of the school year will end on Friday, November 2. While many of you have active ParentVue accounts, Dr. Copeland wants to encourage you to activate your account if you have not. Contact Student Services at 703-488-6300 to receive an activation code.

Westfield Speech and Debate Club: Adult volunteers needed as judges on selected Saturdays during the school year. The ideal judge participated in speech or debate in HS or college, but training is available for any parents that have a desire to participate. Contact Mark Deaton at mdeaton@fcps.edu.
