Here are several updates we know about from around the school:
- Please join the 2018-2019 WHS PTSA! Your membership is vital to the success of the PTSA! Please help support the students, teachers, and Westfield community by joining the PTSA this year. You can join online or by printing a membership form. Information can be found here! Questions? Please contact Membership Chair Christina Black at membership@westfieldhs.org
- Student Volunteers Requested for Bulldog Café: Great service hours opportunity! Student volunteers are needed to help at Thursday’s Bulldog Café! Two students are needed per shift: 4-6 pm (set up and early sales), 6-8 pm (sales and start to clean up), and 8-9 pm (end sales and clean up). Please email Jennie Ryman at jennierymanptsa@gmail.com to sign up!
- Back-To-School Night Bulldog Café: Want to avoid the parking lot rush? Arrive early and enjoy a light dinner at the Bulldog Café! Open at 5 pm in the cafeteria, the café will be selling Subway sandwiches (ham, turkey, veggie) and pizza, as well as sodas, water, snacks, and chips. Thank you to Karen Lowe for organizing the event.
- Back-to-School Night Senior Parents Meeting: From 6-6:45 pm, counselors will be holding a meeting focusing on post secondary options for our seniors. Meetings will be divided by subschool and locations will be posted Thursday evening. The Career Center will be open from 5:30-6 pm and 6:45-7:30 pm for parents to see what resources are available.
- Back-To-School Night Library Preview: The WHS Librarians will be available to show parents/guardians library resources from 5:30-7 pm.
- Back-To-School Night Schedule: Please plan to be in your student's first period class by 7 pm. Please bring your student's schedule with you. It can be found on SIS Parent View or your student has it on his/her account.
- Back-to-School Night PSAT Registration for Juniors: Junior families wishing to receive a PSAT score report may pay the $20 fee during Back--to-School night. There will be a table outside the library. The registration form is attached. The PSAT will be administered October 10th. All 9th-11th graders take a form of the test, with 9th graders taking the PSAT 8/9 and 10th/11th graders taking the PSAT/NMSQT. FCPS pays for score reports for 9th and 10th graders.
- Student Parking Raffle Winners: Congratulations to Max Carper and Noelle Rubijono whose names were drawn from all who entered in the upgrade student parking spot raffle! Thank you to WHS Security for your help with this fundraiser.
- Back-To-School Night Reserved Parking Spot Winners: Congratulations to Lois Hale, Antoinette Hand, Janet Marco, and Diana Schenck! These PTSA members’ names were drawn from all who have already joined the PTSA and will have a “Perfect Parking Spot” reserved for them for Thursday’s Back-to-School Night! Thank you to all who have joined already joined the PTSA this year
- Dance Team Chipotle Fundraiser: Please join the Dance Team at the Commonwealth Center Chipotle (14383 Newbrook Dr., by the new Wegmans) from 5 to 9 pm on Tuesday, September 11th and help raise funds for the team! Please mention to the cashier that you are there to support the team and a portion of your purchase will be donated to the team. A flier will be available in the next eblast.
- Turbo-Tutoring Schedule 2018-2019: Planning ahead for the next SAT and ACT season? Check out Turbo-Tutoring.
- News You Choose: Be sure to opt-in to the PTSA’s News You Choose emails so you can be informed about PTSA events. To opt-in, follow the directions via this link. Please help spread the word to our rising Freshman Parents! Please encourage them to sign up for News You Choose, e-blasts, and the PTSA's Facebook page!
- Yearbooks: Order yearbooks before October 13 and pay only $60. Click here to order online. Our school code is 5577. Attached is an order form if you prefer to order that way.
- Senior Ads for the Yearbook: Attached is information about ordering a senior ad for the yearbook! There are online directions and a paper order form – you may use either!
- Easy ways to Support Westfield – Please note that Giant and Harris Teeter require yearly registration!
- Harris Teeter: Register your VIC card at this link Our school code is 8134. You must reregister each year.
- Giant: Program restarts September 7th. The program requires yearly registration. Please update your card (and encourage your friends and families to also) and select Westfield as your school of choice. Westfield’s code is 03798. Simply log in at the Giant website, then “manage my account” and register Westfield. You may register up to two schools. Thank you!
- Office Depot: When checking out at the register, please ask them to credit Westfield HS. The code is 70115228. They’ll give 5% back to the school!
