8/16 – Parent/Guardian night for Freshman and new families, 7 pm

8/21 – Community Event and Bulldog BBQ, 5-7:30 pm

Here are several updates we know about from around the school:

1. Bulldog BBQ Silent Auction: Are you a local business (any size!) owner? Own a vacation rental? Have sporting event tickets? Have something you'd like to donate? The Westfield HS PTSA invites you to participate in our 19^th annual Bulldog BBQ by donating an item to be included in our Silent Auction being held on Tuesday, August 21^st. This event kicks off the school year and is attended by the majority of the 2,800 students and their families. Please send an email to Joy Volarich at silentauction@westfieldhs.org for more information or to donate. The PTSA is a 501 (c)3 organization.
2. Volunteers Requested for the Annual Bulldog BBQ: Adult and student (great for volunteer hours) volunteers are needed to help with various activities at the Bulldog BBQ. Areas of need include helping families join the PTSA, registering seniors for the All Night Grad party, selling raffle tickets for an upgraded student parking pass, helping at class tables, and more! 3. Sneak Peek at items at the upcoming Silent Auction:  Gift package from Bonefish Grill (value $400); Passes to Escape Room, Rebounderz, Newseum and Monster Mini Golf; Fantastic fitness offerings from Bikram Yoga and Anytime Fitness; Relaxing massage offer from Shapes Salon; Golf for two at Westfield Golf Club; various restaurant gift cards including Willards BBQ, Glory Days, Chasin’ Tails, Ciao, Bon Chon, Bobby Keys (National Harbor) and Carrabas; and the Explorer Package from Zava Zone in Rockville!  Thank you to the hard working silent auction team and all who have donated so far! We look forward to seeing everyone at the silent auction during the Bulldog BBQ on August 21^st.

6. Westfield Reads – required book for all students: Hiddenby Helen Frost is the summer 2018 Westfield Reads book selection.  A summary: “When Wren Abbott and Darra Monson are eight years old, Darra’s father steals a minivan. He doesn’t know that Wren is hiding in the back. The hours and days that follow change the lives of both girls. Six years later, in a chance encounter at camp, the girls face each other for the first time. They can finally learn the truth―that is, if they're willing to reveal to each other the stories that they've hidden for so long.”
7. News You Choose: Be sure to opt-in to the PTSA’s News You Choose emails so you can be informed about PTSA events.
