Here are several updates we know about from around the school:

1. SAT Practice Test-March 17th : The PTSA has teamed with prepwithJen.com, an SAT prep program offering summer boot camps, as well as small group 8-week classes. On March 17^th, there will be a proctored practice SAT test which will then be scored and used to help students prepare for the actual test. Studies show that the more practice student have, the better they do on the real test. There is a $20 fee, payable by cash or check made payable to “WHS PTSA”. Thank you Hari Chadeva for organizing! 2. #WTOPClickforKids:  Have you heard? Westfield is in the running for up to $10,000 from WTOP and Huntinton Learning Center!  Please vote every day and ask your friends and family too also! The contest ends at 5 pm March 16^th! Click here, choose “Fairfax” on district and “Westfield” on school then enter your information.  Thank you! Go Bulldogs!
3. Amazon Smile promotion:  Now through March 31^st, Amazon will donate 1.5% of the purchase for any first time AmazonSmile purchasers!  If you haven’t supported WHS PTSA through Amazon in the past, please consider it if you place an Amazon order in the next few weeks! Thank you
4. Mulch is nearly sold out!  - Sales that include free delivery will end once the 13,000 bag mark is reached…Less than 700 bags remain!  Delivery is April 6^th or 7^th by Westfield students! Because this is an all-volunteer fundraiser, there is a limit to the total number of bags able to be delivered. Deliveries are made to your driveway.  Each 3 cubic foot bag is $5, of which $2.60 may be tax deductible (depending on your specific circumstances). 5. Mulch Day Volunteer Sign-Ups – Your Help is Needed!:  Mulch Day is fast approaching! Many volunteers and food donations are needed to make this a success!  Students earn service hours and funds for up to two clubs/sports and can win prizes, plus have fun with friends! All students can help – from the most petite to the most burly and everyone in between, everyone can participate! Here are the sign-up links: student volunteers; parent/guardian volunteers; and food donations.  Please help make this annual community event successful again this year!   Students planning to apply for the PTSA scholarship now or in the future—this is an important piece of PTSA volunteering that is part of the application.
6. Class of 2018 All Night Graduation Celebration: Tickets are now on sale! Volunteers are needed! Please contact Kathleen Whitman at kwhitmangarden@gmail.com . Many hands make light work….the more the merrier. 
7. Chorus Fundraiser at Chick fil A:  On Tuesday, March 20^th from 5-8 pm, please support the WHS Chorus Department by eating at Chick-fil-A at Chantilly Place (the new one at FFC). Please print or show the attached flier to the cashier before ordering.
8. 2018-2019 new schedule change process: Please ensure that your student makes appropriate class choices. New for the next school year:  there will be no schedule changes permitted between June 11^th and the 3^rd week of the new school year.
9. Run for Remembrance in Honor of Mike Greiner and Conor Bouveron, Sunday May 20^th: Registration is open for the 1K walk and 5K run being held in remembrance of Mike Greiner and Conor Bouveron, two beloved WHS members lost in 2015 and 2016. To register, click here.
10. Congratulations to Emma Wolfe:  Emma successfully auditioned for the Virginia All-State Chorus and will represent Westfield in Richmond April 5^th-7^th!
11. FCPS Special Eduation Conference: On April 21^st, there will be a Special Education Conference at Hayfield Secondary School. For more information or to register, click here.
12. Rising Freshman Boot Camp registration open:  The annual Bulldog Boot Camp for rising 9^th graders will be held August 13^th-15^th from 9 am to noon each day. The deadline to register is August 1^st and there are no refunds. The registration form is attached.  If your student will be participating in marching band, please do not register for the boot camp as band students learn the information and more during band camp.
13. Yarn Donations still requested: The WHS librarians are sponsoring a volunteer opportunity for students after school on Mondays in the library. Students will be able to knit scarves for the homeless. This project is in conjunction with SOME.org and students will be able to earn community service hours. This is a project that is offered at Stone MS, so we hope to encourage students to continue this work at Westfield. To help get this project rolling, donations of yarn have been requested: Red Heart brand yarn, acrylic (washable), weight category 4, dark colors only, and from smoke-and-pet-free homes (due to allergies).
