 Here are several updates from around the school:

1. PTSA Membership:  Have you joined the PTSA this year?  Please do! It takes many people joining and helping in the mission of success for all students at Westfield.  Please be one of those people – your participation matters. Click here!  Thank you!
2. October 7^th :   Everyone who joins the PTSA by October 7^th will be entered into a drawing for a fantastic gift card!
3. Practice SAT or ACT test:  The PTSA and Kaplan are hosting a practice SAT or ACT test on Saturday, 10/29, starting at 8 am. Students will take choose whether to take the full length SAT or ACT practice test upon registration. The scores are not reported to the actual testing company and are for the student’s use only.  The fee is $20. Click here to register
4. Financial Aide Night:  On Wednesday, October 12 at 7 pm, there will be a Financial Aide Night in the auditorium. Come learn about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aide) and CSS profile!
5. PSAT: The PSAT will be Wednesday, 10/19. If your student is a junior and you’d like to receive a score report, payments must be postmarked by Thursday, October 6^th. To sign up, please see this letter  Younger student score reports are paid for by FCPS.
6. 2016-2017 Student Directory: Student directories are being sold again this year, thanks to April Milner!  You may order one by completing the directory section on the PTSA membership forms.
7. Senior Ads for Yearbook:  Senior ads in the yearbook are a great way to recognize your student! Ads are due to Mrs. Naeve’s mailbox by Thursday, October 13^th at 4 pm. An order form was mailed to each senior's home and is also attached at the bottom of this message.
8. Senior Meeting and Panoramic Picture: While the underclassmen take the PSAT, seniors will have a required meeting, followed by the annual panoramic class picture. Seniors report to the Auditorium by 8:10 am for the class meeting, which will be followed by the photo. Questions? 9. Chorus Concert: You are invited to the fall Chorus concert on Tuesday, October 18^th at 7:30 pm in the auditorium.  Come enjoy the fantastic vocal performances by Westfield’s talented singers!
10. BITS Tutoring is returning!  The Free BITS tutoring will being its 2016-2017 tutoring on Saturday, 10/22!  BITS runs up to 3 Saturday mornings per month. Student tutors are needed and earn service hours for their time! To be eligible for tutoring, students must attend Westfield or any of the schools that feed to Westfield (elementary and middle). For information and to see the required forms, click here   Everyone must arrive on time. No late arrivals will be admitted.
11. Homecoming Week Volunteers and Vision/Hearing Screening Volunteers: Thank you to everyone who volunteered during the past week, which was so very busy! Your help is greatly appreciated!
12. Turbo-Tutoring: There is an ACT Prep class at Westfield on Saturday, 10/15 from 9:30 am-12:15 pm.  The next SAT Prep class is at Briar Woods High School on Tuesday, November 1^st from 6:30-9:15 pm.  For information or to register, visit here or see the attachment at the end of this message.
13. Athlethic Boosters Spirit Week: The athletic boosters are sponsoring a spirit week during the week before the football game against Centreville (10/21). T-shirt orders are being accepted through 10/14 (order form attached at bottom of this message). There is a competition between WHS and CVHS. Whichever school has more students eating at Moe's the week leading up to the game will receive a cash prize.  Also, there will be a Bulldog vs Wildcat mascot race and a 50-yard field goal attempt contest. 
14. After School Concessions Volunteers Still Needed:  Are you looking for a regular (every-other week) volunteer spot? There are several openings for the after school concessions stand which runs from September through May! Please contact Amanda Bremer with questions or to volunteer.
15. Athletic Teams Calendar:  To see the games/matches/meets for all WHS athletic teams, click here!  
16. Amazon.com Ordering:  If you order from Amazon.com, please access the website through the link on the right side of the PTSA webpage   Every order placed earns the PTSA much needed funds, at NO cost to you! Thank you!
17. Silent Fundraisers:  We participate in several store school support programs, such as Giant’s A+ School Rewards and Harris Teeter’s Together in Education program. You DO have to relink your Harris Teeter card each year but you do not have to relink your Giant card (but please check to ensure that you’ve designated Westfield!)  Please check out this link for more information!
