9/26-10/1 - Homecoming Volunteers Needed (see below)
9/27-9/30 – Underclass pictures through English classes
9/27 – Partners for Safe Driving Seminar
9/28 – Turbo-Tutoring SAT class, 6:30 pm
9/30 – Homecoming Parade (4:30 pm) and Football Game
10/1 – Homecoming Dance
10/3 and 10/4 – Vision/hearing screenings, Volunteers needed please
10/20 – Cyberbullying Presentation at PTSA Meeting
10/29 – Practice SAT or ACT test, 9 am
Here are several updates from around the school:
- Homecoming Week Volunteers Needed: Adult volunteers needed to help this week with various Homecoming week events. If you can help with any of the openings, please click here
- 9/26-9/30 (Monday-Friday): from 12-2 ticket sales in cafeteria (2 volunteers each day)
- 9/30 (Friday): Volunteers needed to donate and drive convertibles for parade, drive other donated convertibles, donate and drive trucks for parade. 15 drivers needed and 5 more convertibles needed!
- 10/1 (Saturday): Dance Volunteers – 7:45 pm -11:45 pm – help needed with the coat room (3 people), cafeteria (6 people), and ticket collection (6 people)
- Vision and Hearing Screening Volunteers Needed: Next Monday and Tuesday (10/3 and 10/4), all 10th grade students will have their vision and hearing tested during their PE classes. 62 Volunteer spots are still open, with most shifts being about an hour. You are welcome and encouraged to sign up for multiple shifts! Training provided – no experience needed. For the vision test, you stand with the student and mark their form if they pass/fail the exam or stand at the eye chart and conduct the exam. Most volunteers will be in the vision testing room. - Homecoming spirit week: Monday: ‘Merica Monday; Tuesday: Tie Dye Tuesday; Wednesday: Way Back Wednesday; Thursday: Tropical Thursday; Friday: Black Out Tickets to the dance will be sold during lunches this week.
- Back-to-School Night Thank Yous: We would like to thank the volunteers who made last week’s BTSN PTSA events happen! Thank you to: Karen Lowe, Kelly Roberts, Meg Crossett, Kristi Finn, Becky Anderson, Mary Shirley, and Tricia Monroe! And special thanks to the following students who stepped up to run the café: Martin C., Casey B., Erin M., William R., Yashaswi P., Stephanie P., and Brandon P.! We love giving service hours and greatly appreciate your help!
- PTSA Membership: Have you joined the PTSA this year? Please do! It takes many people joining and helping in the mission of success for all students at Westfield. Please be one of those people – your participation matters. Click here! Thank you!
- October 7th: Everyone who joins the PTSA by October 7th will be entered into a drawing for a fantastic gift card!
- 2016-2017 Student Directory: Student directories are being sold again this year, thanks to April Milner! You may order one by completing the directory section on the PTSA membership forms.
- Opt-Outs: If you do not wish for your student’s contact information to be in the WHS student directory, please complete either the FCPS or PTSA opt-out form by September 30th.
- Directory Advertising: The annual WHS student directory will feature ads from sponsors, ranging from full page to ¼ page size ads! If you know someone or if your company would like to advertise (very reasonable rates!), please contact April Milner.
- Practice SAT or ACT test: The PTSA and Kaplan are hosting a practice SAT or ACT test on Saturday, 10/29. Students will take choose whether to take the full length SAT or ACT practice test upon registration. The scores are not reported to the actual testing company and are for the student’s use only. The fee is $20. Click here to register
- Partners for Safe Driving Seminar: First for the year is Tuesday, 9/27. For information on the four seminars that will be held at Westfield this year, visit here. Please pay attention to the start time. Late arrivals are not admitted!
- Turbo-Tutoring: There will be a turbo-tutoring SAT prep class at Briar Woods HS this Wednesday from 6:30-9:15 pm. For information or to register, visit here . The next ACT class will be at Westfield on Saturday, October 15th.
- After School Concessions Volunteers Still Needed: Are you looking for a regular (every-other week) volunteer spot? There are several openings for the after school concessions stand which runs from September through May! Please contact Amanda Bremer with questions or to volunteer.
- Athletic Teams Calendar: To see the games/matches/meets for all WHS athletic teams, click here!
- Amazon.com Ordering: If you order from Amazon.com, please access the website through the link on the right side of the PTSA webpage Every order placed earns the PTSA much needed funds, at NO cost to you! Thank you!
- Silent Fundraisers: We participate in several store school support programs, such as Giant’s A+ School Rewards and Harris Teeter’s Together in Education program. Please check out this link for more information!
