1. CALL TO ACTION:
From the Fairfax County Council PTA (FCCPTA):
Tomorrow, March 4, at around 1pm, the BoS will conduct their discussion about the tax rate for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. I strongly encourage you to attend this meeting, and remind you that once this decision is made, there will be no further opportunity to increase the rate. Also, I would like to reiterate our decision to illuminate the unfair allocation of projected new revenue and highlight that a 76/24% distribution is not symptomatic of a Board that values the needs of what they routinely credit as one of the very best school systems in the country. We need the BoS to fully fund our schools. Your presence at the decision tomorrow will bear witness in ways that will be both tangible and intangible. The meeting is at the Fairfax County Government Center in the auditorium.
And, it’s not too late to write to the Fairfax Board of Supervisors and ask that they FULLY FUND FCPS.

Dranesville District: John Foust, dranesville@fairfaxcounty.gov
Hunter Mill District: Catherine Hudgens, huntermill@fairfaxcounty.gov

2. “Little Known Secrets of Paying for College” seminar, presented by the College Funding Coach, will be held at 7pm on Monday, March 24th in the WHS auditorium. All community members are invited. For many families, the high cost of higher education is a daunting proposition. Since 2002, our workshop has educated parents throughout Virginia and Maryland regarding the complicated and often frightening proposition of paying for college. We demonstrate strategies that have helped save families over $40,000 per year in tuition and fees.
